OUR PILLARS:

  1. Efficacy

Our bioactives are all science-backed. See below.

2. Safety

3. Bioavailability

Our bioactives actually cross the blood brain barrier, so they can do what they're supposed to do.

4. Superior value and dosage

Example: our Bacopa is 50% bacosides. Other leading brands are just 12% bacosides. And we have 200mg of Bacopa, whereas the best-selling Bacopa brand on Amazon has only 4mg.

Citicoline, also known as CDP-choline, is a naturally occurring nucleotide that's rapidly broken down in the gut and liver into its two key metabolites—cytidine and choline—which then enter the bloodstream and cross the blood-brain barrier with impressive efficiency. Once inside the brain, these metabolites are reassembled to produce phosphatidylcholine, the primary phospholipid that forms the flexible structural backbone of neuronal cell membranes. Phosphatidylcholine keeps membranes fluid and intact, supports efficient neurotransmitter release and synaptic signaling, and directly aids neuronal membrane repair by supplying the raw materials needed to rebuild and stabilize damaged areas. Healthy neuronal membranes are crucial for brain health because they enable clear communication between brain cells, protect against oxidative stress and inflammation, and help maintain sharp cognition, memory, focus, and overall mental resilience. The 500 mg dose in Neuroprotectives™ is the same dose used in proven human clinical trials showing benefits for memory, attention, and cognitive performance in healthy adults. NOTE ON BIOAVAILABILITY: you can’t just supplement phosphatidylcholine itself to get these benefits because the molecule is too large (and polar) to cross the blood-brain barrier effectively—making citicoline the smart, targeted way to deliver the building blocks where your neurons need them most.

"NAC enhances neuronal survival via various interconnected mechanisms that diminish oxidative stress, uphold mitochondrial integrity, modulate cell survival pathways, and preserve synaptic plasticity."

- The Central Nervous System Modulatory Activities of N-Acetylcysteine: A Synthesis of Two Decades of Evidence, Current Issues in Molecular Biology

Antioxidant defense

N-Acetylcysteine (NAC)—a supplemental form of the amino acid cysteine—crosses the BBB and delivers cysteine directly to the brain, where it serves as the precursor building block for glutathione (GSH) — the brain’s master antioxidant. By raising glutathione levels in brain tissue, NAC can help neutralize harmful free radicals and oxidative stress, shielding neurons from damage and everyday metabolic wear-and-tear. Healthy glutathione levels are essential for long-term brain health because they help maintain cellular integrity, support clear thinking, memory, focus, and overall mental resilience.

NOTE ON BIOAVAILABILITY: there’s no point in supplementing glutathione itself (even though there are companies that will happily sell it to you). Oral glutathione has very poor bioavailability. Most of it gets broken down in the digestive tract before it even reaches the bloodstream. And the small amount that does get absorbed is blocked by the blood brain barrier. That's why oral NAC is the superior method for "efficaciously penetrat[ing] the BBB, increasing the GSH levels in the brain."

Supporting healthy glutamate balance

NAC helps prevent excitotoxicity from excess glutamate, which can over-activate receptors and destroy neurons.

Anti-inflammatory action

NAC inhibits microglial activation and the release of inflammatory cytokines.

Brain nourishment

"NAC modulates neurotrophic factors essential for neurogenesis and the maintenance of synaptic integrity, particularly brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF)" (Current Issues in Molecular Biology).

Brain metabolism

Healthy neurons have high glucose metabolism; they actively burn glucose to produce the energy (ATP) they need to communicate, repair themselves, and perform cognitive tasks like thinking, focusing, and remembering. When neurons suffer from oxidative stress and mitochondrial dysfunction, their ability to use glucose properly is impaired. This leads to reduced brain metabolism, “brain fog,” fatigue, and cognitive problems. In a clinical study, patients who received NAC showed significant increases in glucose metabolism in key brain regions involved in cognition, attention, and memory, along with self-reported improvements in cognitive function and attention.

Dose

The dose of NAC in Neuroprotectives™ aligns with levels used in preclinical and human clinical studies. (See "Evaluation of the Neuroprotective Potential of N-Acetylcysteine for Prevention and Treatment of Cognitive Aging and Dementia").

Safety

"More than 50 years of clinical use have shown that NAC is effective, safe, and generally well tolerated."

- The Multifaceted Therapeutic Role of N-Acetylcysteine (NAC) in Disorders Characterized by Oxidative Stress, Current Neuropharmacology

Bacopa monnieri is a time-honored Ayurvedic herb and powerful neuroprotective adaptogen. Its active bacosides are non-polar compounds that readily cross the blood-brain barrier, allowing them to reach brain tissue effectively. Once there, preclinical research (in animal and cell models) shows bacosides can help reduce oxidative stress and neuroinflammation while supporting the brain’s natural antioxidant defenses (e.g. by increasing antioxidant enzymes) in key memory centers like the hippocampus. Bacopa monnieri also supports healthy neurotransmitter balance, synaptic plasticity, and nerve cell communication, as shown in preclinical research and reflected in human clinical trials demonstrating improvements in memory, learning, and cognitive processing. The 200 mg dose of Bacopa monnieri in Neuroprotectives™ aligns with levels used in human clinical trials demonstrating benefits for memory, cognitive performance, and neuroprotection in healthy adults.

SALIDROSIDE
50mg

Salidroside.jpg

Salidroside is a powerful phytochemical bioactive found in the roots and rhizomes of the Rhodiola plant. "It has a variety of pharmacological properties, including anti-aging, anti-inflammatory, anti-stress, anti-oxidation, anti-apoptosis, and neuroprotective activities" (Biomedicine & Pharmacotherapy).

BBB transit

In vitro and animal studies confirm that Salidroside and its metabolized core (tyrosol) "are capable of distributing to brain tissue" (Biomedicine & Pharmacology) and "penetrating well through the BBB" (Current Neuropharmacology). What's particularly interesting is that Salidroside does more than just transit the Blood Brain Barrier (BBB); it’s also been shown to protect and repair BBB integrity in injury/hypoxia models.

Antioxidant action

Once in the brain, Salidroside and tyrosol strengthen the brain's multi-layered antioxidant defense. They:

Neuronal resilience

"Pretreatment with salidroside markedly attenuated ... apoptotic cell death" (European Journal of Pharmacology). Bax is a “death trigger” protein in the mitochondria of brain cells. When activated, it pokes holes in the mitochondria, releasing signals that tell the cell to die (apoptosis). Bcl-xL is a “life protector” protein in the same place. It blocks Bax and keeps the mitochondria intact so the cell can survive.  "Salidroside down-regulated pro-apoptotic protein Bax and up-regulated anti-apoptotic protein Bcl-xL" (Biomedicine & Pharmacotherapy).

Anti-inflammatory

"Salidroside provides neuroprotection by... reducing pro-inflammatory M1 markers and increasing anti-inflammatory M2 markers while suppressing microglial-derived inflammatory cytokine release" (Journal of Neuroinflammation). Making up about 10% of brain cells, microglia are the resident immune cells in the brain, constantly patroling to clear out dead cells, debris, and invading pathogens.

The 50mg high-purity dose in Neuroprotectives™ aligns well with the Salidroside doses that have been studied for adaptogenic and neuroprotective purposes. And it's well within explored safe and potentially effective ranges for the isolated compound.
